Dr. Brysen Hansen may recommend a dental crown to restore a tooth that is damaged. Dental crowns are a type of restoration that cover the entire visible portion of your tooth, restoring its original size, shape and color. Crowns are frequently recommended to restore more severe damage, such as:

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Teeth that have developed tooth decay
  • Teeth with fractured or large fillings
  • Teeth that have received a root canal treatment
  • Teeth that need cosmetic enhancement

Dental crowns are custom made in size, shape and color to match your natural teeth and restore full oral function as well as your smile. Traditionally, a crown requires two appointments to complete. However, Lockwood Family Dental uses advanced CEREC technology to design and mill your crown in a matter of minutes so that you can complete your treatment and leave our office with a renewed smile after just one visit.

Our dentist will first clean the damaged tooth and prepare it to receive a crown. We will use our CEREC technology to take a digital impression of the tooth from which your crown will be designed. The crown will then be milled from tooth-colored material, and we will check to ensure that it fits properly before bonding it into place. Finally, your crown will be polished to finish your treatment.
