Dr. Brysen Hansen may recommend porcelain dental veneers to cover and correct the imperfections in your smile. Veneers are thin shells that are custom made to create a beautiful smile and are bonded directly to the front surfaces of your teeth. While there are several materials that veneers can be made from, our dentist and team have chosen to use porcelain because it mimics the color, translucence and durability of your natural tooth enamel to give you a natural and long-lasting result.
Veneers may be recommended to correct a number of cosmetic issues with your teeth, including:
- Large gaps and spaces between the teeth
- Broken, chipped or fractured teeth
- Teeth that are worn down
- Misshapen teeth
- Teeth that are severely stained or discolored
While veneers traditionally take two appointments to complete, our dentist and team use CEREC technology to reduce your overall treatment time and complete your veneers in a single appointment. First, our dentist will clean and prepare your teeth to receive the veneers. This may require us to remove small amounts of your tooth structure to ensure that your veneers will fit properly. A digital impression of your teeth will be taken using our CEREC machine, and we will design the veneers and help you choose the appropriate shade of white for the veneers. The veneers will then be milled from porcelain material, and our dentist will check to ensure they fit properly before bonding them to your teeth.
